Privacy Policy

Noe Knows is operated by Institut Noé Inc. ("Institut Noé," "we," "us"), an Ontario corporation based in Toronto, Canada. This policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit noeknows.ca, contact us, subscribe to our communications, or engage our services. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed — it says what we actually do, and nothing we do not.

The short version

We collect only what we need to respond to you, deliver the service you booked, and send you the emails you asked for. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. You can ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or walk away from our emails at any time.

We collect personal information directly from you, with your knowledge and consent. We do not collect personal information from third-party data brokers, and we do not use advertising or tracking pixels on this site.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Shopify's PCI-DSS-compliant payment infrastructure. We never see or store your full card number.

What we do not do

• We do not sell personal information.
• We do not share personal information with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.
• We do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Our services are designed for adults.

Who we share information with

Only service providers who process information on our behalf, on our instructions, to run this site and deliver our services:

• Shopify Inc. — site hosting, commerce infrastructure, and email delivery (Shopify Email). Shopify may store information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States; where it does, that information is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
• Payment processors — to complete transactions you initiate.

We may also disclose personal information where required by law — for example, in response to a lawful demand by a Canadian court or regulator.

Marketing emails and your consent (CASL)

We send marketing emails only with your consent, obtained when you subscribe. Every email we send identifies us as the sender and contains a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes effect promptly and costs you nothing. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect transactional messages about a service you have booked.

How long we keep it

Only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, tax and accounting records, which Canadian law requires us to retain for prescribed periods). When the purpose is exhausted and no legal obligation requires retention, we delete it.

Cookies

This site uses strictly necessary cookies — the ones that keep your cart intact, your session secure, and your preferences remembered. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated first and consent infrastructure will be in place before anything is set.

Safeguards

Personal information is protected by safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted transmission (TLS), access limited to those who need it to serve you, and the platform-level security controls of our service providers. In the event of a breach of security safeguards creating a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA, and the Commission d'accès à l'information where Quebec law applies.

Your rights

You may, at any time:

• Access — ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used and disclosed.
• Correct — ask us to amend information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Withdraw consent — to marketing at any time (every email includes an unsubscribe link), or to other collection and use, subject to legal and contractual restrictions, which we will explain if they apply.
• Delete — ask us to delete personal information we no longer need.

Residents of Quebec have additional rights under the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), including the right to data portability and the right to request cessation of dissemination.

Write to info@noeknows.ca with the subject line "Privacy Request." We respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request — that protection works in your favour.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information (cai.gouv.qc.ca).

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for compliance with this policy and with applicable privacy law, and can be reached at info@noeknows.ca (subject line: "Privacy Officer").

External services

Our site links to external services — including the Ask Noe application (asknoe.app) and our editorial newsletter — which are governed by their own privacy policies. This policy covers noeknows.ca only.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes affecting how we use personal information already collected will be communicated before they take effect.
